My prejudices affect how I view the Mario movie.

They don't mean that I won't like it, that I can't be surprised, or that I may not change my mind about some of those things. But they do influence my viewing of the movie.

Only by facing and acknowledging my prejudice can I view the movie fairly.

What background information might a person need in order to understand my question? What would I need to explain to someone who's never heard of my topic?

What do I think the answer will turn out to be? What's your best guess? Why do you think so?

How do we tell the story of a breakup?

Telling the Story of a Breakup

Work in groups of 3-4 to tell the story of a breakup.

Imagine a couple is together for several years, grows apart, and eventually decides to break up. As a group, your job is to decide how to tell that story in a way that will make both parties seem empathetic. We should feel for both parties, although not necessarily equally.

How do you do it? What genre might you use? (Poetry? Music? Short story? Letters? Reality TV show?) How would you make sure each party’s voice is heard? How would you organize the story? Make your thing!

Next time, we'll be sharing these with the class.
