Portfolio Peer Assessment

First Principles

  • Be honest and accurate.
  • Be as specific and detailed as possible.
  • Take good notes.
  • Take this seriously.
  • Part 1: Read and Assess Groupmates' Portfolios
  • Part 2: Share and Discuss Your Assessment

This is only as useful as you make it.

Part 1 - Assessing

Note: Part 1 is done individually, without discussion. We will discuss our assessments in Part 2.

With a groupmate's Portfolio:

  • Write the writer's name on top of your Rubric.
  • Read through the Portfolio.
  • Fill out the Rubric:
    • Answer "Yes" or "No" to the overall question.
    • Check off the skills you see demonstrated in this Portfolio.
    • For each answer, explain your reasoning in the "Comment" box. Use specific examples form the paper.

Part 2 - Discussing

For each Portfolio in turn:

  • For each Outcome on the Rubric, compare answers between assessors.
  • Discuss the reasons you said yes or no, including specific examples.
  • The writer may ask questions and take notes, but not explain or justify. (Either explain in your Reflective Essay, or make things clearer in your Portfolio.)
