- Group Presentations
Wednesday, May 2, 2018
For the group component of Writing Project 3, your group will give a ten minute presentation to the class about your review of the book. Demanding that each member of your group speak, this presentation will ask you to share your review of the book for the class, sharing what you’ve learned together.
To help guide your and your group’s effort, be sure to address the following in your presentation:
- Why do you think this book is important for others to read? What ideas does it share for other readers to consider?
- What does this book help you understand about the criminal justice system in the United States? Why is that important to understand?
- In what ways does this book connect to the Philosophies of Justice that we’ve been playing with this semester?
- What specific moments in the text demonstrate the above points for you?
- Create a presentation (PowerPoint, Prezi, or another) to share your group’s presentation. Try to include multimedia (images, audio clips, videos) to heighten the effect of your presentation.
As mentioned previously, one of the expectations for this presentation is that every member of your group will participate, which should mean both contributing to the preparation and speaking during the presentation.
Finally, please note that the date for our Presentations is before the due date of the final draft of our Writing Projects, and well in advance of the Final Portfolio due date. This is intentional; one thing I hope for these projects is that as we share what we have encountered in our books, we will be sharing ideas, evidence, and information that will be useful to other writers in other groups. Using specific examples and quotations from your book—with citations, of course—will allow people in other groups to see how your book might connect to their own reading and writing.
